Vahram Muratyan was commissioned a year ago to create the visual identity of “Proche”, little sister of Les Arènes and L’Iconoclaste. Proche has been an amazing and pleasant adventure for us and we are happy to be able to finally share what we have been able to create together for some incredible authors and their readers.

Akiko Stehrenberger “Made All of This”.

Show Gallery is pleased to present Made All of Thisa solo exhibition of new mixed media paintings, movie posters, sculptures, and drawings by Los Angeles-based artist Akiko Stehrenberger.

Made All of This is an exhibit that shows both the professional and the personal work of Stehrenberger over almost two decades. If you’ve caught a glimpse of a promotional movie poster in the last 16 years, chances are you were taking in the work of Stehrenberger, the artist you didn’t know you knew. Her greatest asset is her versatility, making her a chameleon of mediums. Whether celebrating, respecting, or playfully satirizing the subject, the underlying connective tissue in all her work is that her concept is the catalyst for how the piece is executed. This exhibit will capture what she has so skillfully harvested from her imagination so far, while also celebrating the release of her first book, entitled Akikomatic: The Work of Akiko Stehrenberger, published by Hat & Beard Press.

Akiko Stehrenberger is a 15-time CLIO Award-winning movie poster illustrator and designer who works with directors and movie studios, as well as movie and advertising agencies respectively. Stehrenberger was deemed the “Poster Girl” by Interview Magazine a decade ago, and that title has only become more apt since. Vanity Fair included her Funny Games and Kiss of the Damned posters in their “Best Movie Posters of All Time” list. Her Da 5 Bloods poster is on view at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and her book is available at the museum's curated gift shop.

Stehrenberger studied illustration and design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. She lives and works in Los Angeles.

As the best movie poster of are starting to trickle in, Akiko has so far made 5 of them. Congratulations Akiko!

"Akiko Stehrenberger is one of the best poster artists working today, and this oddball illustration for Charlie Kaufman’s psychodrama I’m Thinking of Ending Things is another gold star effort, showing Jessie Buckley’s character obscured by snowfall. Of course it gives absolutely nothing of the film away, and there’s even something a little odd about the use of italics and capitals in the styling of the title and credits – but that’s nothing compared to how strange things get within the film itself. " Little White Lies

Best Movie Poster of the year, to be continued…

“Yet another winner by Akiko Stehrenberger. She had a number of standout posters this year: one of the best posters for Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, a chilling alternative poster for Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things, and even an alternate design for Possessor. But it was her straightforward portraiture for John Lewis: Good Trouble that I loved the best: an entrancing painted image of the late, great Congressman... in custody but brimming with patient defiance.” Adrian Curry
